You do not need high-tech kitchen in order to create a Michelin star worthy food. But here are some essential kitchen tools and equipment that every kitchen needs.
PRIMARY kitchen knives

skillet or pan . It is used for frying, browning and searing of food. If you buy non-stock pan, make sure you never heat above 240 degrees (465 degrees Fahrenheit) as the coating can decompose and release toxic gases.

round baking pan . You may have to buy different sizes in accordance with specific recipes.
wire cooling rack . Great for roasts and leaving the cake to cool without the bottom getting all gooey.
KITCHEN EQUIPMENT
The two cutting or chopping boards . One of flesh and one for non-meat.
a set of mixing bowls . Small, medium and large. Glass is better than plastic.
big scoop . Or wood or plastic.
Spatulas . Good for flipping, rotating and removing food and clean for scraping mixing bowls. Buy heat resistant rubber or silicone ones for the day-to-day use. Metal ones are best for BBQs.
rolling pin . Nothing wrong with a traditional wooden rolling pins, but these days you would not believe a variety of rolling pins available. slotted spoon . Essential to remove solids from liquids, such as vegetables from the boiling water. Again, variations slotted spoon is fantastic. Some of the slots or holes come in absolutely beautiful patterns and modern designs.

opener . One of the most overlooked item on any camping trip. Choose a side opening can opener, but the old style open top ones to save yourself a cut on sharp lids.
bottle opener . Need one that can open cans and bottles.
Kitchen Scissors
Grater / Shredder
a colander or strainer for draining excess fluid from foods such as pasta, vegetables and fruits.
sower . For sieving lumps of flour.
paper towels . Paper towels in the kitchen are not just for cleaning spills, but also for the absorption of fats and oils from fried foods, like bacon and remove water from the meat like a chicken before roasting it.

Re closed plastic bags . Do not waste food. Even relatively small amounts of residue can be packaged and frozen for future use. I've even frozen egg white (if, say, the recipe called for egg yolks only), wine and fresh fruit (great for smoothies)
